Joe grew up in Sydney, Australia. |

Early aptitude for classical oboe and saxophone, there
was a DX7 synthesiser in the house. |
| 1989 |
Joe comes to the UK aged 13 like an Aussie skate punk
cricketer. |
| 1990/93 |
Joe continues with classical music playing oboe in
various orchestras. More importantly, 1990 sees Joe discovering jungle
techno at Spiral Tribe and Mutoid Waste parties. |
| 1991 |
Aged 15, Joe’s horizons
broaden considerably as he attends legendary hardore night “Rage”
with Jem Haynes. Friday morning science class was never quite the
same again. This year sees Joe buy a pair of Soundlab decks and
a Sequential Circuits drum machine!! |
| 1993 |
Feeling the heat of the summer of 93 Joe decides to
squat a flat and feel the love baby. |
| 1993 |
Aged 17, Joe promotes several
parties at The Brain and The Gardening Club. This is Joes first
chance to DJ in a club. |
| 1993/94 |
Joe works behind the counter at a record shop in Whitechapel
and raves hard all year!! |
| 1994 |
Joe releases his first record
using the name “Luger” The record was a collaboration
with Jem Haynes AKA DJ search and was released on The Leaf Label.

Joes' raving career continues as he and Jem go to
Reincarnation” in Crystal Palace. |
| 1995 |
Joe buys his first proper studio
setup: an Akai S3000, Yamaha YS200 synth, a Sony FX unit, a cheap
compressor and a big Soundcraft mixer. He moves back into his family
home and proceeds to teach himself the art of making beats. |
| 1995/97 |
Joe teams up with old friend
Tony Wilson (aka Spykid) under the name “The Occupiers”.
Together they create some of the most warped Akai twist-up hopno
tec ever heard, releasing records on Language and Lo Recordings
amongst others. |
| 1996 |
Joe meets Tam Cooper and together
they establish a more substantial studio including Pro Tools hard
disk recording. |
| 1997 |
Joe and Tam move into a house
in Streatham with an attic to use as a studio. Noise abatement notices
quickly appear complaing of “loud drumming late at night”.

In order to make more noise Joe
and Tam move the studio to a premises in Farringdon. Long sessions
ending in Macdonalds breakfast were the order of the day. |

Joe is booked to DJ at a rave in Canada. |
| 1997/98 |
Joe works as in-house engineer
at the Renegade Hardware studios. Joe puts what he has learnt into
practice and creates some hard-as-nails Drum+Bass. In the process
he also learns a lot more about production and heavy beats. |
| 1997/98 |
97-98 Joe works as live sound
engineer for The Sex Monkeys, a live Hip Hop band in which Tam played
guitar. Joe engineered at the Jazz Café and also Ronnie Scotts. |
